Catoosa Small Animal Hospital was established in 1980 by Dr. Steve Weir. In 1982, Dr. Bob Shoup became a partner and both doctors practiced medicine together. Since then, we have added several other great doctors as associates to help with the workload. These compassionate veterinarians have been a valuable asset to the practice along with our technicians, kennel staff and reception team.
We moved to our present location in October of 2001 and are very happy to have a facility that is thoroughly equipped to provide your pet with the latest in veterinary care. Our facility has a fully equipped lab area, ultrasound, surgical, radiological, and boarding facilities.
Early on, we decided to limit our practice to small animals — meaning dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, and other small pets. We choose to do this for two reasons:
First, WE WANT TO BE HERE FOR YOU. By limiting our practice to small animals and never being out on the farm, there is always someone available during office hours to take care of appointments and emergencies. "Drop-ins" are welcome; however, an appointment will prevent a possible delay in the waiting room and will help us take care of your pet as quickly and as easily as possible.
Second, in veterinary medicine as in human medicine, knowledge is exponentially increasing every year. Because of this, it is impossible for us to be skilled on every species we see. We want to be great small animal veterinarians and let someone else be experts on large animals.
Our goal at Catoosa Small Animal Hospital is QUALITY CARE. We realize that pets in today's society play a very important role in people's lives. Dogs, cats, and other small pets are more a part of the family than they have ever been in the past. We simply wish to provide the best possible care at reasonable prices and want you to know that we CARE about your pet! We try to always do the following:
